The City of Gravette operates a Mayor-Council form of government. There are three wards with two representatives from each ward for a total of six council members. Meetings are usually held the second and fourth Thursday of the month. See the calendar for most current meeting schedule.

ELECTED OFFICIALS
Kurt Maddox
Mayor
Kurt has a Master of Science in Leadership and Ethics, MBA, from John Brown University and has been a small business owner for 25 years. As a long time Gravette resident, he cares deeply about the heritage and well-being of the city. Kurt has been Mayor since January 2015 and his term ends December 2026.

David Bailey
City Attorney
He is the founder of the Bailey Law Firm, P.A., in Siloam Springs, Arkansas. He graduated from Hendrix College with a B.A. with distinction in International Studies in 1993. David then attended law school at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville where he served as an editor of the Law Review. He graduated from law school with honors in 1996.

David Henzie
City Clerk/Treasurer
Mr.Henzie has an Art Teaching Degree from Azusa Pacific University in California and a Post Graduate Degree in Education from the University of Hong Kong. He was an Art Teacher for 16 and a half years in Hong Kong, teaching all ages from preschool to high school. Since moving to Arkansas and not finding a school to teach at, he decided to open his own art studio and teach art here in Gravette for the past 3+ years. His term ends December 2026.

Michael Deniston
Council Member Ward 1 Position 1
Michael relocated to NW Arkansas from west Tennessee in 2010. Michael and his wife Angela have 3 sons; James, who is an active 8th grader at Gravette Middle School; John, and Jacob. Michael is currently working for Walmart in the Critical Facility division as a Senior Manager. Michael enjoys traveling, fishing, working in his garden, and relaxing with the family and their 4 dogs. For the past two years, Michael has served on the Planning Commission as Vice Chair. His term ends December 2026.

Jeff Davis
Council Member Ward 1 Position 2
Jeff is originally from Northern California, but moved to Benton County in 1974 with his wife. A graduate of San Francisco State College, he has taught public school and operated federally funded training programs. For 30 years, he worked at Walmart's printing facility, retiring ten years ago as their primary production scheduler. In preparation for retirement, he and his now departed wife sold their farm west of town and built their new home in Gravette. Jeff has served on the Gravette Planning Commission and is very active in his local and district Lions Clubs. He plays banjo with the Old Town String Band. His term began in January 2018 and ends December 2024. EMAIL Council Member Davis.

Margo Thomas
Council Member Ward 2
Position 1
Margo grew up in Lubbock, Texas. She and her husband of 48 years moved to Gravette to raise their two sons, both of whom graduated from Gravette High School. Margo worked for Emerson Electric for 27 years and then for R & R Solutions for 5 years. She has been active with the Gravette Public Library and is enjoying her retirement. Margo is also very active in her church and enjoys working to help people in any way she can. Margo's term ends December 2026.

Don Turner
Council Member Ward 2 Position 2
Don moved to NW Arkansas in 1993. Don and his wife Christy have 4 children, Donald, Danielle, Kenzie and Kaylea, and 5 grandchildren, Jamison, Rowan, Elliott, Ford, and Cooper. Don enjoys hunting, fishing and has been a coin/precious metal dealer since 1980. Don is currently working in the Wal-Mart Transportation Division, as an Operations Manager, since 1999. Richard Carver
Council Member Ward 3 Position 1
Richard grew up in Gravette and graduated from Gravette High School where he has worked since he was a senior. He is currently the Facilities and Transportation Director for Gravette Public Schools. Richard met his wife Lanora while they were both in high school and have been married for 33 years. They have a son, Jake, who also graduated from Gravette High School. Richard and Lanora own a farm in Hiwasse, where they raise beef cattle. Richard's term ends December 2026. EMAIL Council Member Carver.

Larry Weihe
Council Member Ward 3 Position 2
Larry grew up on a ranch near Valentine, Nebraska where he was born and raised. He graduated from Mid-America Nazarene University in Olathe, Kansas, where he received a BA Degree in Pastoral Ministry and minored in Psychology; and has served 43 years as a lead pastor. He is presently serving as lead pastor of the Hiwasse Church of the Nazarene, where he has been for the past 30 years. He and his wife Zina have been married for 50 years, and have two grown children, son Kyle and daughter Kammie. Larry and Zina have 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
